As it appears Skrillex been in the studio with literally everyone lately. From Mike D of the Beastie Boys to Mike Einziger of Incubus to Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys … it doesn't seem like there's anyone who isn't going to the studio with Skrillex right now … except maybe Kid Rock.
Producer Heavy Mellow, who has been in the band studio with Skrillex for some time, has been a major source of all this news as he shares photos from the room with various artists. Now he's shared a photo of Ross Robinson – though you probably don't know the name, Robinson has produced albums for a number of heavy rock and metal acts including Korn, Slipknot, Suicide Silence, Limp Bizkit and Tech N9ne. Oh, and he also produced From First To Last's second album, Heroine, in 2006, so he and Sonny have a long history.
All of this is to be said … Skrillex is probably making a SLAYER out of a melody right now. (No, Robinson didn't work with Slayer.)
Rumors of a new Skrillex album have continued year after year and have now lasted three or four years, but this year seemed to be the year. Unfortunately, there's no telling what the pandemic has pushed back in terms of planning, but it does seem like he's really in studio mode this time around.
Look forward to this collaboration and more on the way whenever they might fall!
